PERSONAL SPACE

…Drawing, for her, is not a means to express herself or an idea, to deconstruct ideology or name her identity; rather it is a means of engaging with a biological cognitive bedrock. She draws as Monet vainly sought to do, to repel self-consciousness so that the self cannot rise to impose its will on things. She wants to draw like she breathes and walks: lightly, automatically, in an animal way…
